What is bitterness?

As a rule, bitterness is related to feelings of anger and sadness that are not elaborated and accumulate over time.

Bitterness can be a temporary or lasting feeling, and manifest itself at different times in life. However, as it is a set of emotions, it is not an easy task to identify the central cause of bitterness and know how to reduce this feeling.

All relationships, loving or otherwise, are subject to bitterness. However, within courtships or marriages, bitterness can be harmful to the dynamics of the couple. See the following signs and identify if you or your lover are becoming or have already become bitter in the relationship:

1. Frequent irritations with simple things that would not bother other people

All of your partner's behavior affects you and you feel deeply irritated by a situation that, in theory, shouldn't bother you. Since bitterness is a negative feeling, take a look at yourself and see if your relationship has led you into that space of negativity.

Along the same lines, note whether your mood has been positive over the last few days, and whether you feel satisfied. If the answer is negative, turn on the alert: you may be bitter.

2. Feeling of incomprehension and lack of appreciation

Relationships should lift us up, make us feel better and happier people. If you see relationships as sources of frustration and dissatisfaction, with a loss of faith in people and love, this could be a sign of bitterness.

Note how you feel about your partner, whether there is appreciation or confidence that he or she really cares for you, and rate it from 0 to 10 to gauge your level of bitterness.

3. Belief in the impossibility of seeing oneself happy again

Bitterness is the consequence of several bad experiences and disappointments over time. Therefore, the bitter person usually thinks that he will never be happy again and lives with frequent anger, associated with unhappiness and sadness.
