Electric cars skyrocket in sales in Brazil and break a record; Look!

Data on car sales in 2022 were released by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea). The survey revealed a new position that the eletric cars assumed by being more sold than combustion cars, being the first time that this happens in Brazil.

According to the disclosure, cars that do not pollute the environment with 100% clean energy, accounting for hybrid or electric cars, sold more than cars powered by Gasoline. In the overall sum of the year 2022, hybrid and electric cars were sold in greater numbers compared to the most popular combustion cars.

According to the research, the difference was not that big, but it is totally valid. Hybrids and electrics reached 49,245 sales last year. Combustion cars, gasoline only, reached 48,800 in sales from January to December.

Combustion cars are still on the streets in greater numbers, but this increase in sales for Anfeva is significant for the investments that have been made in the market. Electric cars are expected to be on the rise and reach 22% growth by the year 2030.

The progression of sales is important both for the environment and for the investments that have been made. In Brazil, the work is significantly progressive, since electric cars have not yet reached an affordable price.

Electric cars have been the best sellers in Brazil

The percentage referring to the year 2022 indicates 2.5% of what exists in the local market, representing a 40.8% increase compared to the same period of the year 2021. In 2021, clean energy cars reached 35,000 sales.

According to the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE), plug-in cars (PHEV and BEV) registered more than 18,000 registrations in 2022. This amount refers to 0.09% of all electric cars being sold in Brazil.
