Verb with patient subject... Does this subject arouse any curiosity? Do you have any notion of what a verb is constituted by such a feature?

Well, so that doubts do not persist in persisting, nothing is more convenient than remembering some concepts, especially those related to the agreement that occurs between these verb forms when accompanied by the pronoun if.

Thus, let's see the statements:

Furniture is repaired.

We have that the verb (fix) is inflected, but why is that?

It seems simple, because we just need to transform this sentence, which is in the synthetic passive voice, into the analytical passive voice, that is:

Furniture is fixed.

We have that through an analysis that we make of the relationship between the verb and the subject, both agree with each other, isn't it true?

Therefore, when it comes to the syntactic structure of the clause in question, we have:

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

Fix it - this is a direct transitive verb;
If – passivating particle
Furniture – subject. But why is he called a patient?

Simply because he, being in the passive voice, receives the action expressed by the verb, that is, are fixed.

We infer, therefore, about the syntactic structure of the verb constituted by the patient subject, as it becomes fundamental understand that even with the transformation to the passive voice, the verb continues to be classified as transitive direct. When in the case expressed by -“furniture are fixed”- we have the impression that it is a linking verb (are) + subject predicative (fixed).

Hence the fact that we affirm that the predication is the same (direct transitive), only the sentence that was transformed to the passive voice.
