The new Bolsa Familia was released by the Federal Government last week. According to Minister Wellington Dias, of Development and Social Assistance, families in situation of financial vulnerability will have access to a transfer of BRL 600 per month and an additional BRL 150 for children up to six years old. After the announcement, it was also confirmed that beneficiaries will not have access to the 13th salary.
The news was confirmed by Letícia Bartholo, Secretary of Information Management Evaluation and Single Registration, on Friday (3). According to Bartholo, the thirteenth salary for government beneficiaries took place only in 2019, during the government of Jair Messias Bolsonaro (PL).

Bolsa Família will not have 13th salary
Letícia Bartholo said that Bolsa Família works as an income supplement for Brazilians in a vulnerable financial situation. As a result, the Christmas bonus benefit does not fit into the category proposed by the government:
“Bolsa Família is an income supplement assistance program, it is not suited to linking a 13th salary. It now has a per capita payment much higher than what existed before, the original Bolsa Família and the Auxílio Brasil. Obviously, there is no provision for payment of the 13th month because the proposed design is better suited”.
New social program
Bolsa Família was relaunched last week, through Provisional Measure 1,164/23 signed by President Lula on March 2nd. There are more than 20 million people who receive the program's monthly transfer, establishing itself as the greatest aid to the poorest people. In addition to the amount of R$600 and the additional R$150, pregnant women and teenagers up to 18 years of age will have access to R$50 per month.
To be entitled to the monthly amount, school attendance will be required and the vaccination card must be up to date. For pregnant women, the required rule is prenatal care.
